Free to write

Sholes' Type Writer. (1872) From Scientific American, Volume 27, Number 6 (August 10, 1872).

I love to write about whatever strikes my fancy or occupies my mind, but since writing is now a part of my professional freelance life, which takes place in a highly scrutinized corporately informed public arena, I do not feel free to write about such "frivolous" things. So, I’ve created this “anonymous” blog so that potential clients won’t discover it during their “research” efforts to determine my capabilities for writing online copy about their cat food or cat spa services, or for their cat food / cat spa services community management needs, or whatever —and thus deem me to be not “a good fit” (a phrase that belies the fundamental correspondence between seeking employment and seeking a romantic partner).

I suppose if this blog were hugely successful, it wouldn’t matter —they might welcome popularity by association. But seeing as that isn’t very likely, I will simply enjoy my freedom to write about whatever I like, in whatever way I care to do so, without proving my understanding of how to best market myself as a brand and demonstrate a solid use of SEO. I simply don’t care to be popular —gasp!
